Bokeh (derived from Japanese, meaning "blurred or fuzzy") is a photographic term referring to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens using a shallow depth of field.[1] Different lens bokeh produces different aesthetic qualities in out-of-focus backgrounds, which are often used to reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject. It has been a long time coming, but I finally got my first digital SLR! I have awesome flashbacks of my photography classes in college shooting on campus for assignments and then spending hours in the darkroom and lab exposing myself to dangerous chemicals. Now minus the chemicals, this blog gets a major upgrade as well a new direction for me in digital photography. There will be "photos of the week," personal assignments and experimentation with the new lenses I have bought, as well as my own discoveries into exposure and light that I could never do with a compact camera. Just wanted to say thank you to my brother Christian (aka Kameraguy) for helping me narrow down my gear to what I need (and can afford) at this time. This image would not exist without him.
